Girl's Brigade

Girls’ Brigade (GB) in Drumgooland and Kilkinamurry Presbyterian Church is into its 40th year as a company.

Girls brigade is a Christ centred, dynamic, fun organisation effectively reaching out to all girls to value, nurture and equip them for life.. Its aim is that girls will come to know the Lord as their Saviour & grow deeper in their walk with the Lord.

We are planning a few events over the year to celebrate our 40th year as a company.  Please follow this website for notification of same and it is hoped there will be a facebook page for the company set up soon.

GB Aim

To help girls to become followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, and through self-control, reverence and a sense of responsibility, to find true enrichment of life.

Our Motto

"Seek, Serve and Follow Christ "

Principles

The Brigade acknowledges Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord according to the Scriptures and seeks to fulfil its aim to the Glory of One God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Brigade witnesses to the standard set by Jesus Christ and gives positive teaching on the Christian attitude to life. The Brigade promotes a just society where all people are equally valued.

GB Badge

All over the world, Girls' Brigade members wear the same badge. The badge has 4 main elements each with a special meaning to those who wear it.

In the centre a Cross, the symbol of Christ and His Church.

Below it a Lamp, that our light may shine out upon the world.

Above the Lamp is a Crown, that we may own Christ as our King.

Behind all a Torch, the flame of Christ's living Spirit and our devotion to Him.

The Girls' Brigade is a Christian youth organisation for girls of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. A varied programme of fun activities is offered, designed to educate, challenge and inspire young girls in a safe environment of Christian teaching. The programme is split into 4 main areas:

- Spiritual

- Physical

We are the youngest group in the Girls' Brigade and we have lots of fun every week in our Company.

To join the Explorer section you must be at least 3 years old and up to 8 years old Explorers are the 'STARS' in GB and earn STAR badges. Here's what they like to do:

-  Play games

-  dress up

-  Sing songs

-  Make things

-  Paint and draw

-  Listen to Bible stories

-  Go on special outings to the zoo or a farm

Explorers are divided into different age groups ~ Under 5s and 5-7s so that we can make friends with girls around the same age. We have our own uniform so we are really special! Explorers wear a navy tunic with a bright red jumper.

- Learning about how God is relevant to us today

- Sports

- Learning new things like First aid, car maintenance, a new sport

We earn badges by taking part in various activities each week. Our badge is the Senior Circle. To earn the senior circle we complete different challenges in four areas: Spiritual, Physical, Educational, Service.

Would you like to be a Brigader?

This is the most senior section in GB for teenage girls aged 14-18. It's great to catch up with friends each week and hear all the bizz since the previous week. At GB we can forget about coursework, mock exams and boy trouble or chat about our concerns with friends and leaders who are really interested in us. As Brigaders, we get more of a say in which activities we'd like to try out during the year. Here's the kind of things Brigaders enjoy:

- Making friends

- Helping out with the younger sections

- Keeping fit and healthy

- Understanding relationships

- Discovering how God is relevant to us

- Looking good

- Caring for the environment

- Discussing our views and feelings on all kinds of topics

- First aid

- Sports

- Cool crafts

- And lots more...!
